Booking with a Owner/Operator ensures the most direct line of communication. This will help make sure your accommodations are met as well as your expectations, especially with the price of charter fishing today being let down flat out hurts!
There’s a saying that goes “A hungry dog runs faster” Captain Joe is one of the younger captains among the Mayport fleet but being a full time Fisherman for nearly a decade ensures plenty of expertise wether in shallow water or the deep blue!
Both of our vessels maintain safety standards above USCG requirements. As well as being Federally Permitted to take you outside of State Waters where the big ones live!

You should expect a Safe, Family Friendly and Fun experience.
You should expect each rod and reel to feel like the one you just put down. all rods and reels are maintained and spooled with fresh line regularly. You can count on leaders, Swivels and otherwise being fresh and at 100%.
Most importantly you should expect to enjoy the day and the pursuit with your crew.

Nope!
Everything needed for a day of fishing will be provided: bait, tackle, and fishing licenses.
Captain Joe will clean and bag your catch for the day if desired.

Packing light is greatly appreciated by your captain!
That being said, food and drinks are not provided. Bring what you need according to your preferences and trip length! The boat has two clean, non-fishy, 35-quart coolers iced down and ready to go on every trip.
Protection from the elements is key. Protect yourself from the Florida sun by wearing long breathable sleeves, a hat, and sunscreen. Rain is almost always a possibility, so bring a rain jacket if you can.

Once you are parked (avoid trailer spots to avoid a ticket), walk down to the water, and look for Capt. Joe! Typically the boat will be situated on the eastern docks near the shade structure/cleaning tables.

We accept just about everything you can think of! A plethora of modern money apps. The favorites are Zelle and Cash. Keep in mind, any vendor fees will be added depending on the app. Credit card is a 3.5% fee on top of trip price.
As standard in the charter industry the Captain does work for tips. As in the service industry, 15-20% is customary.

Deposits are non-refundable. But can be used on any trip in the future.
Mother Nature is a fickle beast and cancellations due to weather are 100% refundable. Our goal and priority whenever we go out on the water is safety.
Reschedules are not a problem. We are happy to work with you and are flexible within reason.

It is important to be honest with yourself before booking an offshore trip. There is no refund policy for a customer indicated turn around trip.
The biggest mistake Captain Joe sees is partying the night before a trip. It is always recommended to get plenty of sleep and eat a healthy well settled meal the night before. Maybe skip the spicy curry or extra hot chicken wings.
Making sure to eat breakfast the day of is a huge help as well. Maintain composure and relax through your trip! Being uncomfortable greatly increases your odds of spiraling into sea sickness. If you do feel yourself falling into motion sickness its important to keep eating and drinking as well as finding any available shade.
